Apex DB, a vehicle-specs dataset, sourced per value

Apex DB is a commercial vehicle-spec database, sold as versioned JSON/CSV/SQLite/Parquet snapshots with an optional REST API. 43,077 variants, 57 commercial-use cleared sources, 41 countries. Built for procurement audit: redistribution available as an add-on, per-value source trail, rolling updates.

background

The gap Apex is built against

Vehicle-spec procurement is the hard step of most projects that touch this data. Basic fields are paywalled. Definitions disagree between sources. Provenance lives as an asterisk in a PDF, three clicks from the value it's supposed to explain.

PCAF financed-emissions teams need CO₂ and fuel consumption by model-year with an auditable source on every value. EV charging and fleet teams need battery capacity, range, and DC charge rate across WLTP, EPA, and CLTC. Both groups end up hand-curating, because commercial datasets either gate the cells they care about or don't cite where the numbers came from.

Apex is built against that gap. Sourced from public datasets with commercial-use cleared provenance. Per-value citations. Flat snapshot pricing. 2023 model debuts as the evaluation sample.

no usage fees

One invoice, no metered renewal

A versioned snapshot, not a metered API. The price is the same whether the file is queried once or from a hundred pipelines. No seat counts, no per-call fees, no renewals unless you want next year's snapshot.

every value, sourced

Audit any value back to a public regulator URL

Every spec value carries a named public source: URL, source class, and applies-to-year range. Every populated cell also carries a PCAF (Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials) data-quality score.

pre-purchase evaluation

Inspect the real data before you buy

The 133-variant 2023-debuts sample carries the paid dataset's schema, provenance, and data-quality scoring. Inspect the real fields and source evidence before purchase.
